The Real Cost of Sugar ConsumptionAug 23 2017

According to a newly published study, the consumption of sugar accounts for $172 billion annually in dental care.  Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, and the United States have the highest costs per treatment per person.  With the increased difficulty in eating a low-sugar diet due to the high prevalence in processed or pre-packaged foods, the solution is a complex one.  Some countries have introduced a "sugar tax,"  while others are focused on educating the public on making healthier food choices.  For more, see this article at Dentistry Today.
